Medal with portrait of George V on the obverse and an image of St George on horseback trampling underfoot the eagle shield of the Central Powers and a skull and cross-bones. The risen sun is above these figures and the years 1914 and 1918 are written along the outside edge. The rank and name of the recipient engraved on the rim. The ribbon has a large, central orange stripe, flanked by a white stripe on either side, flanked by a black stripe, flanked by a light blue stripe.

Metal: cupro-nickel, textile: possibly silk
