Japanese silk flag covered with writing in Japanese applied in black ink , brushstrokes visible . There are five red ink stamps visible. Using the edge with the larger writing horizontally along it as the top ( this is consistent with the other Japanese flags in the collection ) then there is one red stamp in the top left corner , two larger stamps in the bottom right and two smaller in the bottom left corners . on the right side of the red circle the writing is vertical , on the top it is horizontal and the remainder of the writing has starting points that arch around the flag . This flag looks as if the white silk has been shredded .
