Description

Khaki cotton short sleeved dress . Buttoned from top to bottom with seven button holes and seven buttons - the third button from the top ( at the waist ) is fastened by a hook and eye clasp . A cotton badge has been sewn on the PL breast - white background with a red cross . Three pleats are on the front of the dress that extend from the shoulder to the waist . A pocket is at hip height on the PR front . The apron ( front ) part of the dress has two two pleats running from the waist to the bottom . The shoulders have straps sewn from the shoulder / sleeve section that extend toward the collar and are fastened by a single button . A belt with metal clasp has been tied around the PL shoulder strap . There are two bronze coloured metallic epilette badges - one for each shoulder - with the word ' AUSTRALIA ' curving upwards . The two epilette buttons are 17 mm in diameter , are bronze in colour and have a map of Australia with a crown on top and have the words ' AUSTRALIAN MILITARY FORCES ' around the edge . The seven buttons running down the front of the dress are 21 mm in diameter and display the same details as the epilette buttons . On the inside of the collar the inscription ' NFX125659 D. JACOBS ' has been written in black ink . There is a 30 mm x 23 mm white tag sewn onto the collar with the inscription ' V 61 1943 / MADE IN AUSTRALIA / SIZE 3 ' . There is also a light blue paper dry cleaning tag stapled to the inside collar with the number 3986 written in black ink .
